Welcome to the Sensors CD-ROM
Sensors are an important part of our lives – they pervade every aspect, mostly unobtrusively. Students should already be familiar with sensors through work in a classroom context in Science, Technology and Geography, but may be less aware of ‘real life’ applications.
The development and use of sensors is also a rapidly growing area. Students need to be aware of the ways in which sensors are used and why they are used. They should also have some understanding of what is ‘inside the black box’ in terms of basic scientific principles, and also of the processes by which sensors are developed.
The SEP ‘Sensors’ pack is a resource to support and extend teaching about sensors at GCSE and post-16. It includes details for a range of practical activities to give students a sense of how scientists and technologists use observations of phenomena in real applications and to provide an introduction to the science behind sensors.
